Hundred Year Tea @

The first Korean encyclopedia was published in 1614 and inspired our Hundred Year Tea. The author, Yu Su-gwang, recounts the story of an old man punishing another man who seems even older. When criticized for punishing the older man, he explains that the man is actually his son, despite his appearance. He punishes him because he did not follow his instructions to drink hundred-year wine every day and has now aged to the point where he looks older than his father. This hundred-year wine, called Baeksaeju, is available in many Asian markets and is made from numerous spices used in traditional Asian medicine. Our Hundred Year Tea builds on this traditional story, combining many of the same spices found in Baekseju for a blend that is sweet, savory, and spicy—like a green tea.
